Lusting after his best friend’s sister breaks every code he lives by, but one kiss is all it takes to fall in love.
Ryan Flynn’s life and career with the Ice Dragons hockey team is defined by a code: friendship, loyalty, respect, leadership, and protection. A call from his best friend’s sister ends up with him taking her home, and it’s all he can do to remember that she’s off-limits. It doesn’t matter that she’s too much of a temptation for a man on the edge, he’s promised her brother he wouldn’t let any guy in professional sports anywhere near her, and that includes him.
Kat has been in lust with hockey player Ryan Flynn since she first laid eyes on him. The problem? Ryan is her brother’s best friend, bound by a complicated code of chivalry both on and off the ice. When he rescues her and then takes her home, she just needs a single kiss—and he is more than happy to help her out. When the kiss is just the start of something they need to hide from her brother, abruptly things are out of control.
Could Ryan, the hard man of the Dragons, see her as anything more than his best friend’s sister?
And will Kat be able to catch and keep this Dragon who is the other half of her?

REVIEW.

I am a huge lover of sports romance.
Kat, a fiercely independent lady, is the ideal match for Ryan, a beautifully passionate leading guy. An NHL enforcer is the epitome of an Alpha guy. I adore how Ryan’s fury on the rink contrasts with his reserved, introverted caution off the ice. He’s a professional athlete who values low-key connections and being loyal & altruistic to his pals. But we are reminded of what an honorable guy he is as we see him avoid circumstances that would make him want to break the code.
Since she lost her parents when she was a teenager, Kat, the sister of Ryan’s best friend, has received excessive protection from both her brother and Ryan. She is a tough and tenacious paramedic. She has had a crush on Ryan her whole life, but she has never had the guts to admit it.

When RJ Scott writes the solid and complicated relationships between teammates, the hockey background gives him the freedom to flourish. Loki and Ryan’s connection is nearly as endearing as the main romance. I could have liked a little bit more hockey in the story, but I really appreciated the guys’ friendship on the rink as well. Kat is a strong, independent leading lady, and Ryan and Kat have a fantastic partnership. As things get hotter between Kat and Ryan, there is electrifying tension in this charming, slow romance, we are sucked into the whirlwind of emotions.  I like the friends-to-lovers plot since it is seductive and powerful without being angsty.   A fascinating book, with some nice humorous moments mixed in with the stress, and I am eagerly awaiting the next book.
