The team captain and the rookie firefighter never meant to fall in love; but they’ll fight tooth and nail to protect what they have.
Alex Simard, captain of the Ice Dragons hockey team, didn’t intend on rescuing a baby from a burning car. Doing what anyone else would’ve done doesn’t make him a hero. Add the press hounding him, to on-ice injury, warring Russians, and the season from hell, and he’s losing focus. Getting his team to the Stanley Cup is his priority; falling in love isn’t even a footnote on his to-do list.
Jo Glievens, rookie firefighter, never meant to fall in love with a hockey player. Her career is everything to her and right now she doesn’t want to add a man to her life. She has a plan and is sticking to it. But someone is out there planting bombs, destroying lives, and she has to make choices when this criminal’s actions hit way too close to home.
REVIEW
This is a really dramatic story with a well-tied-together plot that provides our two characters with several opportunities to shine. They are connected, which is crucial to the story, and they understand the strength of the heart when it finds the one it desires. Both of them are brave. Alongside the romance story, a suspenseful one is told. Jo is a rookie fireman. She’s fierce, tenacious, and delightfully complex. Alex is a brilliant and well-known captain of an NHL team, but his duties may often feel unbearable. Both Jo and Alex are self-assured, independent individuals, but together, they strengthen one another. I truly enjoyed this couple’s narrative and thought their connection was fantastic. In this book, the entire squad is given greater attention, and I adore the deep connections that the players have with one another. The tension is thrilling, and the narrative is well-developed. It had some really amazing drama and suspense mixed in, some really fantastic fun and flirtatious bits, and some pretty hot and sensual going on as well.

Overall, this was a really delightful novel. I should also say that I genuinely adore almost any sports romance. I adore how much the primary characters care about one other and their shared passion for the game and for playing it. I also enjoy witnessing the sport from all angles, including in the locker room, on the ice, during practice, off the rink, and even while players are going about their daily lives. These are the criteria I use each time I choose a new sports romance. Lastly, the aspect of any sports romance that I enjoyed the most was experiencing the sporting event from the perspectives of both protagonists. When a character is watching someone they love play the sport they love, I love to see the emotion in their eyes, and I love to feel the emotion and passion in the player.
Hope you enjoyrd trading this review!
Thanks for Reading!
