Hello! so, here with this week’s post.
Today’s topic is: What causes blogging slumps? (Laurie @ Laurie is Reading)
Prompts: Do you often find yourself in blogging slumps? What qualifies as a blogging slump for you? What causes them? Can you sense one coming, or do they hit you unexpectedly? What do you do to prevent blogging slumps? How do you get out of them?
Do you often find yourself in blogging slumps? What qualifies as a blogging slump for you?
It would surprise me if a month went by without at least one or two of my blogging slumps, which happen very regularly.
To be quite honest, it depends. In the months leading up to summer, I notice a downturn in my mood. I’d rather read than blog most of the time since it’s too hot. Additionally, I’ve read more throughout the past several months, but I keep forgetting to blog or choosing not to.
When I’m not in the mood to work on my blog for several days in a row, I usually go through a blogging slump.
What causes them? Can you sense one coming, or do they hit you unexpectedly?
I’ve to say that usually, my blogging slump can also appear completely out of the blue, but most of the time is caused when
- I run out of ideas,
- don’t feel motivated, or am in the mood to blog for no specific reason, or simply too bored to do so.
- distraction from other activities, such as tv series and dramas to watch,
- but also, a lack of energy or time, or things that happen in everyday life
What do you do to prevent blogging slumps? How do you get out of them?
My favorite method for preventing blogging slumps is to schedule my blog posts in advance. Whenever possible, I attempt to organize the material in advance or, at least, have the template prepared and some ideas on the content I want to add.
But the thing I usually do is wait it out and divert my attention to things that have nothing to do with writing.
Slumps come and go, but you know they’ll pass.
